Indigenous participation plan

The department respectfully acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of this Country – the lands and seas on which we meet, live, learn and work.

We acknowledge those of the past, the Ancestors whose strength has nurtured this land and its people, and we recognise their connection to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to them, their culture and to their Elders, past, present and emerging.

Our Indigenous Participation Plan is currently under development.

The Cultural Capability Action Plan is an interim plan, following the 2020 machinery of government changes.

This plan supports the Queensland Government Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Capability Framework which provides strategic direction for Queensland Government agencies’ cultural capability planning. The framework’s strategic vision is to provide efficient, effective and responsive services to Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples by ensuring their perspectives are an inherent part of core business across all agencies, underpinned by five principles: valuing culture, leadership and accountability, building cultural capability to improve economic participation, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement and stronger partnerships, and culturally responsive systems and services.
