Yarrabah receives boost through innovation
The indigenous community of Yarrabah in Far North Queensland is working with the Queensland Government, the Yarrabah Leaders Forum and the Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council to invigorate the local economy through innovation and entrepreneurship.
Through funding provided by the Queensland Government, the Yarrabah Leaders Forum will deliver a tailored business program for the community, including the provision of mentoring and business coaching.
Delivered from the Yarrabah Accelerator and Innovation Hub, the program will focus on turning one of Queensland’s regions into a hub for innovation and enterprise.
Yarrabah, located approximately 50 kilometres from Cairns, has a population of about 2600 predominantly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
