Wild new waterslides set to revive tourism

09 Dec 2021

Put on your swimmers. Slap on your sunscreen. Prepare for the ride of your life.

Wet’n’Wild has opened its highly anticipated new waterslide complex in time for summer holidays.

The Gold Coast attraction has added new features for the whole family to enjoy.

They include the H2Oasis splash zone for young children, and for the adventurous, there’s the challenge of Australia’s tallest waterslide tower and three great new slides that will provide plenty of thrills and spills.

The new waterslide complex is part of Village Roadshow’s $70 million investment in Gold Coast attractions that will help revive tourism.

Thousands of holidaymakers are expected to flock to the Gold Coast from December to January now that Queensland’s borders are open.

Those fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are in for a treat on the heart-pumping Super Ripper, Double Barrel and KABOOM! waterslides as they drop, spiral and zip down a slide at 40 kilometres an hour.

It is an experience almost guaranteed to create some of the best holiday photos ever taken.

The Queensland Government helped Village Roadshow Theme Parks survive the pandemic through its $25 million Tourism Icons package and $1 billion tourism industry support package.

Village Roadshow is Australia’s largest theme park operator. Its Gold Coast attractions include Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World, Wet’n’Wild, Paradise Country, and the Australian Outback Spectacular.

Wet’n’Wild’s new complex includes the following features:

  • Australia’s tallest waterslide tower
  • Super Ripper – two, parallel, 12-metre-high slides
  • Double Barrel – grab a partner and slide together
  • KABOOM! – a slide with a 10-metre drop, before spiralling down a 360-degree corkscrew
  • H2Oasis – a tropical 870 square metre splash park.
