New AFL Grand Final Facilities Fund announced
The Queensland Government is investing in an $8 million infrastructure funding partnership with AFL Queensland to increase participation and support the delivery of new facilities.
The aim of the new AFL Queensland Grand Final Facilities Fund is to provide inclusive and accessible facilities that cater for growing communities and a diversity of participants, particularly females, juniors, disadvantaged communities and growth areas.
The program will provide funding to assist local government, grassroots community Australian football clubs, umpiring organisations and schools to develop AFL facilities across Queensland.
With the sporting industry still feeling the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, funding such as this is vital in improving facilities to help keep Queenslanders active by attracting and retaining participants.
