Refreshed rec centre for the Gold Coast

01 Mar 2021

The Gold Coast Recreation Centre will become the hub of activity as it opens a new Aerial Adventure Park and welcomes the head office of Surfing Queensland, after they relocate from their office at Burleigh Heads.

The development of new office space and the new Aerial Adventure Park are part of a $7 million expansion of the Leisure Centre.

The expanded new recreation centre will feature two new multi-purpose indoor courts, with timber sprung floors, that can be used for basketball, netball, futsal, pickleball, wheelchair sports and fitness classes.

Early works are underway on the multi-purpose court project with completion due around October 2021.

The 16-metre high Aerial Adventure Park features more than 45 fun, challenging obstacles for children as young as three years old, and an accessible course for people in a wheelchair.

The addition of the new Aerial Adventure Parks comes on the back of the centre experiencing its busiest Summer with over 1400 people accessing the rock-climbing wall and pool, and a further 400 kids participating in the Coast Club Adventure Activity Program across the Christmas school holiday period.
