Browne Park redevelopment kicks up a notch

05 Nov 2021

A $25 million redevelopment of Rockhampton’s Browne Park is a step closer with the appointment of an independent project manager to drive planning, stadium design, development approvals and construction.

Stage one will see a new western grandstand with seating for up to 4,000 spectators, upgraded player, media and spectator facilities.

Future plans also include new TV broadcast quality LED lighting towers, more seating, catering facilities and amenities.

The works will transform Browne Park into a 10,000-seat stadium capable of hosting more NRL Premiership matches like the Parramatta versus Newcastle semi-final held there in 2021.

The ground will also be a more attractive venue for major sporting carnivals, cultural and entertainment events.

Construction is expected to support more than 80 jobs while providing vital income for local businesses and sub-contractors.

Nearby residents and key stakeholders will soon have the opportunity to have their say on the proposed development.

Construction is expected to begin in late 2022 with completion by early 2024.
