Hinterland escape opens on the Scenic Rim

05 Nov 2021

A new luxury country retreat equipped with a day spa, restaurant and club house, Wagyu Cellar Door and a tack room for horse rides has opened on the Scenic Rim today.

Hazelwood Estate, located on the Beechmont Plateau and neighbouring the world-heritage listed Lamington National Park, will be the perfect getaway for visitors looking to enjoy a true hinterland experience.

Owners Andrew and Claire Northcott bought the property in 2014 and have since transformed the estate as a major high-end tourism attraction that will be targeted to corporate, health and art retreats, product launches and high-end events.

The Queensland Government provided $1.84m in funding through the Attracting Tourism Fund to construct three luxury pavilions and 16 eco-friendly farm cottages, providing additional accommodation choices for up to 40 guests.

The new Gold Coast Hinterland tourism feature is expected to bring more than 18,000 additional visitors to the region annually and pump nearly $4.5 million into the local economy.
