Meakin Park amenities a game changer for soccer

07 Oct 2021

More women and girls will be encouraged to play soccer at Logan after new female-friendly change rooms were opened at Meakin Park in Slacks Creek.

The facilities include 29 unisex shower cubicles and 10 unisex toilet cubicles, which will help the region cater to an expected surge in female participation in the lead up to the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023 which will be held in Australia.

Around 20 per cent of all football club members in Queensland are female and MiniRoos girl’s participation increased by 30.6 per cent in 2021 alone.

Having quality facilities gives Queensland a greater chance of producing more Matildas players as we build towards the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.

The change rooms were built following a $500,000 Queensland Government investment through the Female Facilities Program.
