North Stores stage two opens

07 Apr 2022

There’s a new stop on the food and art trail of the Scenic Rim with the opening of North Stores at Tamborine Mountain.

Already a popular destination with the Picnic Real Food and Bar eatery, and retail and workshop spaces, North Stores' new works have now officially opened and are ready to welcome visitors.

Funded through the Growing Tourism Infrastructure fund, the second and final stage of the project includes a new multi-function building, landscaped gardens, an outdoors event space and flower and produce garden.

North Stores offers a variety of experiences for locals and day trippers, helping to boost visitation to the region – with more than 30,000 additional annual visitors and $670,000 in expenditure predicted.

Born out of a passion for growing and cooking real food, owners Brenda Fawdon and Sonja Drexler created a space that is architecturally and sustainably designed, as well as environmentally conscious with a new waste management system that reduces food and vegetable waste.

North Stores is one of 22 projects funded through the Queensland Government’s $25 million Growing Tourism Infrastructure Fund 2020/21 – a key element of Queensland’s Economic Recovery Strategy: Unite and Recover for Queensland Jobs to help accelerate the State’s recovery from COVID-19.
