New martial arts training hall opens at Inala

05 Dec 2022

Martial arts has more room to move at Inala with the Grand Opening of a new Vovinam Queensland training hall at the Phat Da Temple to provide a larger training space to cater for the club’s 200 active members.

Vovinam Queensland started building the hall in 2018 through its own finances and the support of 20 people involved in the construction including 10 volunteer labourers.

Some new amenities were added to the hall through $104,893 funded under the Active Community Infrastructure Kickstart program.

Vovinam Queensland provides Vietnamese martial arts classes to children and adults aged from 6 to 68, with a focus on stamina, self-confidence and service to humanity through a strong body and mind.

There are 33,000 Queenslanders who have Vietnamese ancestry and more than 9,000 Vietnamese-Queenslanders who live in Inala.

The Queensland Government has invested nearly $750,000 to support martial arts and mixed martial arts since 2015, including for club support, infrastructure, FairPlay vouchers and COVID recovery.
