Sport and Recreation Projects share in $1.26 million

More Queenslanders will have opportunities to get active and involved in their communities with 25 projects set to share in nearly $1.26 million through the Active Industry Project Fund.

State level sport and active recreation organisations and industry peak bodies are being funded up to $75,000 each to deliver their ideas which will enable more people to lead active, healthy lives.

Outdoors Queensland will use its funding to help implement the Outdoors For Life program which helps families and young people get involved in beginner-friendly programs like bushwalking and paddling.

There is a Riding Blind program to enable vision impaired people to take part in motorbike riding, a six-week AFL school blitz program in primary schools, a new paperless technology platform to help surf lifesaving events run more smoothly, tailored training programs for female rugby officials and a school-based rowing training and regatta series.

The 25 organisations can start their projects from 1 February 2022 and should have them completed by the end of the year.

The funding is part of Activate! Queensland, a 10-year Queensland Government strategy for getting more Queenslanders moving, more often.
