Active Clubs Round 2 grants awarded

13 Jul 2022

$2,000 grants awarded to 1,690 sporting clubs

The winter sporting season will kick off on a positive note for 1,690 Queensland sport and active recreation clubs that have each been awarded $2,000 grants as part of Round 2 of the Active Clubs program.

$3.38 million in funding has been delivered to the clubs to provide extra support for volunteers and buy equipment.

The grants will help Queensland clubs across the state to provide flexible opportunities to new and existing members.

Some sporting organisations will deliver training programs for officials and coaches, or to help them pay for travel and accreditation – a vital contribution to the volunteers who make community sport possible.

Clubs will also spend the funds on much needed equipment like soccer nets, tennis balls, goal posts, kit bags, basketball hoops and line marking paint.

Others will use the money to hire venues or equipment so they can hold carnivals and sign-on days that will bring back players, coaches
and officials and attract new members.
