Lighting upgrade a bright spot for Wynnum Juniors

01 Jun 2022

A $300,000 lighting upgrade at Kitchener Park will allow Wynnum Manly Junior Rugby League Club to slash its power bills and direct the savings into supporting its growing stable of young rugby league talent.

All 4 playing fields have had energy-efficient LED lights installed in the towers so the brightness can be turned down on the two main fields for training to save money, while 50 lux lighting on the two smaller fields will be ideal for after school training sessions.

The lights can also be turned on in different areas of the fields, reducing the impact on nearby residents and saving the club more than $2000 per month on its energy bills.

The club has 750 players of all ages who use the fields on a regular basis, in addition to schools and community groups.

The works were funded through a $300,000 Queensland Government Election Commitment, project managed by COHA Group and installed by Wynnum electricians Keid In Electrical.
