Active Gameday Project funds infrastructure at 104 clubs

06 May 2022

More than $9.7 million has been invested to 104 Queensland sport and active recreation clubs and local councils to help them build and upgrade playing infrastructure through Active Gameday Projects.

The fund is helping with upgrades to playing surfaces, lighting and irrigation, including a green upgrade for Hervey Bay Golf Club, heating for Mareeba pool, a running track at Ingham, hard courts in Bundaberg West, a new rugby league field at Harrisville and 100 lux lighting for Roma campdrafting.

The grants are typically between $50,000 and $150,000 for Active Gameday Project partnerships where the club, organisation or council contributes up to 20 per cent of the project cost, with a focus on infrastructure that can be shared between clubs and schools.

The projects are all designed to help clubs recover from the COVID-19 pandemic while encouraging more Queenslanders to lead active, healthy lives.
