Halfway line for Rugby Training Centre

04 Oct 2022

The National Rugby Training Centre is well on its way towards completion with 50% of the jointly funded construction completed.

The centre at Ballymore will be the new national headquarters for Women’s Rugby and the home of the national Wallaroos side, as well as the new home for our Queensland Reds men’s and women’s teams.

The centre will be able to boast:

  • a 750m2 gym – the biggest sports team gym in Queensland
  • an aquatic recovery and sauna
  • a 75-seat auditorium for team meetings and community rugby education
  • the rebuilding of the McLean grandstand that will seat over 3000 spectators with modern corporate facilities.

Designed to accommodate three programs at the same time, the centre will also house the administration for the QRU and Rugby Australia’s women’s and referees’ programs.

The project is jointly funded by the Commonwealth and Governments, and the Queensland Rugby Union and will be one of the best high-performance centres in the country once completed in May 2023.
