It’s lights on for the Caboolture Cougars Hockey Club

14 Dec 2022

Hockey and athletics are set to light up at Morayfield with new field lighting installed on two grass multi-purpose ovals at Lindsay Road Sports Ground.

Four new 30-metre-high light poles with 40 LED lights that have smart switching capabilities can be switched between 50, 75, 100, 200 or up to 250 lux depending on whether it’s training or match conditions.

The multi-level light control system will help the Caboolture Cougars Hockey Club save money on electricity bills and will allow the fields to be shared with other community groups including cricket

The club has launched its Summer Under Lights social hockey program this year in a bid to rebuild the membership base which was hit hard during COVID.

The club has five grass fields all-up, including two fields now under lights, with plans too for a new clubhouse and change rooms which the upgraded power supply and switchboards will be able to accommodate.

The project was delivered by Moreton Bay Regional Council with the lights installed by local business Precision Lighting.

The lights were funded through a $250,000 Queensland Government Election Commitment and $290,000 under the South-East Queensland Community Stimulus Program – Works For Queensland.

Since 2015 the Queensland Government has approved funding of more than $10 million for hockey in Queensland and more than $27 million to support community sport and recreation activities and infrastructure in the Moreton Bay Local Government Area.
