Paroo pumping weights
Paroo residents can get pumped for new gym equipment in the Wellness Hub.
The Cunnamulla Aboriginal Corporation for Health was awarded $25,000 (GST exclusive) under round 1 of the First Nations Sport and Recreation Program to purchase gym equipment for the CACH Cunnamulla Youth and Wellness Hub in Paroo.
The hub is the only gym facility in a 200km radius and is popular with community members who come to exercise and socialise.
The project ensures that local community members have access to safe and suitable weights and cardio equipment to support them in being physically active. The equipment is providing real benefits to the residents of Paroo.
Round 2 of the First Nations Sport and Recreation Program opened on 22 March and closes on 26 April.
Funding may be used to subsidise employment, purchase equipment, encourage participation and assist to build capacity to deliver activities
Local government authorities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses and organisations and not-for-profit organisations are invited to apply for projects in non-discrete communities.
