Queensland.. the place to be!

Queensland is growing its reputation as Australia’s sports capital with major event content across the state capturing the attention of the nation.

As well as hosting the international women’s cricket series between Australia and India,  Rugby Championship double-headers on the Gold Coast, Brisbane, and Townsville over four consecutive weekends in early September, Queensland also played host to the entire 2021 NRL Finals Series and an historic NRL Grand Final at Suncorp Stadium on 3 October, the first to be played outside Sydney in the event’s 114-year history.

Upcoming major events include:

  • The first Ashes Test of the summer gets underway at the Gabba from 8 December.
  • Tickets go on sale in January for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, with the Gabba hosting four Super 12 Stage games.
  • The FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023, the world’s largest women’s sporting event, will take centre stage in Brisbane in July and August 2023, with Brisbane set to host 8 huge FIFA Women’s World Cup matches.

The 2023 tournament will be the first time the FIFA Women’s World Cup has involved 32 teams, and is sure to be a massive occasion.
