Townsville Marine Tourism Precinct
A major transformation of Townsville’s ferry and bus transport system is underway. The $54.2 million Townsville Marine Tourism Precinct will be a game changer for the region.
Project overview
The development on the Strand will replace the current Breakwater Transport Terminal and include:
- new ferry berths
- facilities for buses
- a commercial precinct
- a brand new 90-room hotel.
The precinct will connect the central business district with major tourism offerings like Reef HQ Aquarium, Museum of Tropical North Queensland and the Museum of Underwater Art.
The project could also create opportunities in the development of Palm Island through the creation of reef tours and indigenous experiences
