Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
Feeding the beautiful rainbow lorikeets as they fly in on their twice-daily feed is truly an Australian family iconic photo moment, as is feeding the kangaroos, riding the miniature train or cuddling a koala at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.
With more than 70 years’ experience, the heritage-listed Sanctuary is a must-see Queensland destination for locals and international tourists. Set across 27 hectares of natural eucalyptus-rich bushland and rainforest, the Sanctuary is home to a wonderful array of native and exotic animals.
In 2020, COVID-19 significantly impacted the Sanctuary which was temporarily closed and lost international and domestic visitors due to border restrictions.
With the assistance of the Queensland Government’s COVID-19 International Tourism Adaptation Grant, the Sanctuary produced a special Australian Christmas show, Blinky Bill’s Christmas Wish, with the aim of stimulating support from Queenslanders via a fun new offering for the Christmas season.
