BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort Accommodation Upgrade

We’re supporting the diversification of BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort.

Project overview

We’re contributing $500,000 towards the construction of 12 additional studio villas at the BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort. The new villas will offer the resort greater diversification with more accommodation options available for visitors to enjoy.

This project is a part of the $25 million Growing Tourism Infrastructure (GTI) Fund 2020/21, and is a key element of Queensland’s Economic Recovery Strategy: Unite and Recover for Queensland Jobs to help accelerate the State’s recovery from COVID-19.

  • Support 55 FTE jobs during construction, and 5 FTE ongoing jobs.

  • Attract more than 7,500 additional visitors annually.

  • Grow the local economy by $1.1 million annually.

  • Thanks to the co-contribution of the Growing Tourism Infrastructure Fund, we were fortunate enough to have been able to start our Studio Villa expansion project after what was a devastating time for us and the tourism industry as a whole. The funding has fast-tracked our recovery, allowing us to not only accommodate more visitors on-site but provide further job opportunities from construction through to full-time employment, increasing annual tourism numbers and injecting $1.1 million into the local economy. We cannot begin to thank The Growing Tourism Infrastructure Fund for the co-contribution towards this project. This opportunity has not only allowed us to grow but prosper, bringing other planned projects that would have been delayed due to COVID-19 into the foreseeable future.
