Undara is home to one of the world’s longest lava tube systems. With our support, the construction of new tourism accommodation (The Homesteads) will deliver significant value to the local economy.
We are backing the construction of 18 air-conditioned, en-suite accommodation units to support the Undara Experience including the famous Lava Tubes at Mount Surprise.
The construction of the units will support a long-range strategic plan to sustainably grow Undara's business.
This project is a part of the $25 million Growing Tourism Infrastructure (GTI) Fund 2020/21, and is a key element of Queensland’s Economic Recovery Strategy: Unite and Recover for Queensland Jobs to help accelerate the State’s recovery from COVID-19.
Create around 56 jobs during construction
Increase annual tourism numbers by 3,600
