Wander at The Overflow

We’re supporting the expansion of sustainable short-term accommodation at Wyaralong.

Project overview

We’ve invested $1.33 million towards the construction of 5 sustainable, light earth touch, self-contained pods for short-term tourism accommodation to complement the existing Overflow Estate winery and events operations.

Officially opened in November 2021, Wander at The Overflow offers 5 private, 1 or 2 bedroom luxury accommodation pods. Designed with a light environmental footprint, the pods are completely off the grid featuring solar and water harvesting and storage, a high-tech water-saving toilet and greywater recycling. The pods also feature king beds and floor to ceiling glass windows with views of Lake Wyaralong.

The project is expected to increase annual tourism numbers to the region and provide a $650,000 annual boost to the local economy.

This project is a part of the $25 million Growing Tourism Infrastructure (GTI) Fund 2020/21, which is a key element of Queensland’s Economic Recovery Strategy: Unite and Recover for Queensland Jobs to help accelerate the State’s recovery from COVID-19.
