Yarrabah Arts and Cultural Precinct

The Yarrabah Arts and Cultural Precinct in Cairns was established in 2002 as a place for artists to come together and practice their crafts, to display and sell them.

Project overview

The new renovation features a new Gateway Building, providing a clear entry and seamless connections between the museum, art centre and a future performing arts space for functions.

Visitors to the Precinct can view the renowned Menmuny Museum’s display of historical Indigenous artefacts or take a guided walk along the rainforest boardwalk to understand local flora and fauna.

We have supported the project with a $600,000 investment to deliver the building which was designed by Andrew Lane from Indij Designs in Cairns and built by Cairns company Richardsons Building Services, creating eight jobs during construction including five jobs for Indigenous people.

This project is a part of the $36 million Growing Tourism Infrastructure Fund established in 2018 to grow tourism infrastructure and attract increased visitors and expenditure.
