Grow and promote Quandamooka Festival

Project overview

The annual Quandamooka Festival shares and showcases the living history, knowledge, stories, arts and culture of the Nughi, Nunukul and Gorenpul clans, known collectively as the Quandamooka People.

During the festival attendees can experience:

• dynamic dance
• music
• visual art exhibitions
• fibre art and weaving workshops
• bush tucker dining
• whale watching cultural tours
• kunjiel (corroborees)
• storytelling
• insights into cultural heritage
• caring for country and much, much more.

The Minjerribah Futures program aimed to increase the festival’s profile, attract new visitors and help strengthen and share the Quandamooka history, language, culture and tradition.

Minjerribah Futures provided funding from 2017 to support the planning, operation, growth and promotion of the Quandamooka Festival. This support has included:

• employing an events coordinator
• expanding festival program entertainment
• developing promotional materials to increase attendance and awareness
• measuring event numbers and participation rates.

The 2020 and 2021 Quandamooka Festivals were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2022 Quandamooka Festival was held 26 to 28 August 2022.
