Visitors to Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) will soon have more opportunities to connect with nature as new and improved recreational trails are development across the island.
The pristine environment of Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) offers visitors many opportunities to connect with nature. The Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC) is enhancing this experience by developing and improving recreational trails on the island.
The tracks are being planned with key stakeholders to:
- provide unique walking experiences in diverse landscapes
- preserve sensitive environmental areas and important cultural sites
- ensure the safety and enjoyment of users.
The Traditional Custodians have now completed the Jarlo Beetle track, a four kilometre walk to the Mount Vane lookout point, one of the island’s highest peaks. Work is also underway on two more tracks from Mount Bippo to Penbean, and from Gumpi (Dunwich) to Bummiera (Brown Lake).
Attract more new and repeat visitors to the island
