Super Constellation Display
The Qantas Founders Museum will open the restored Super Constellation Aircraft to the public in April 2020 in time for the start of the Museum’s Qantas Centenary celebrations.
Super Constellations are iconic for their design and for their role in Australia's aviation history and the first planes to allow Qantas to establish long-range international flights.
The new interior display explains the planes significance to Qantas history and includes part of a recreated passenger cabin, multimedia screens and interpretative displays. With our support, the Museum can use the display to tell this story in a unique and memorable way.
Restoration of the cockpit took 945 volunteer hours to complete and came with challenges. Volunteers had to rely on photographs, as they had not seen a Super Constellation cockpit in its original state.
