Major Tourism Experiences Hardship Grant

Part of the $600 million Australian-Queensland Government COVID-19 support package to help Queensland’s tourism and hospitality businesses who continue to face significant hardship.

Grants of up to $4 million are available to Queensland’s eligible major tourism attractions and experiences with an annual turnover for their Queensland operations of at least $25 million and who are experiencing significant financial hardship as a result of COVID-19 travel restrictions and interstate lockdowns.

These major tourism attractions and experiences are key drivers of significant interstate and/or international tourism, as well as being major employers of Queenslanders.

The $30 million program will ensure eligible major tourism businesses, which are critical to support Queensland’s economic recovery remain in business, retain staff and critical skills and can scale up when visitation returns.

Eligible businesses will need to meet all specified thresholds in terms of their annual turnover in Queensland, impacts from COVID-19 restrictions, ANZSIC industry codes and the number of people they employ in Queensland.

Major tourism businesses that receive support under the Major Tourism Experiences Hardship Grant will not be eligible to receive a grant under the Tourism and Hospitality Sector Hardship Grant.

For businesses that have associated entities as part of a business collection, only 1 application will be accepted.
