Whitsundays Cyclone Debbie Recovery Fund
Tourism is a major contributor to the economy of the Whitsunday region which suffered significant damage to natural assets and infrastructure during ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie.
With the support of the Federal Government, we took swift action to get local tourism operators back on their feet.
The Tourism Recovery Fund is part of a joint commitment by State and Federal government to aid recovery and create new tourism experiences and infrastructure.
The nine infrastructure projects and two feasibility studies in the Whitsundays supported recovery following ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie.
- drive demand
- improve quality
- increase tourism expenditure
- trigger flow-on economic benefits across the tourism supply chain.
