Year of Indigenous Tourism video transcript

The Queensland Government, through the Department of Tourism, Innovation and Sport, and Tourism and Events Queensland has partnered with the Queensland Tourism Industry Council to deliver the Year of Indigenous Tourism in 2020 and 2021.

Queensland's Year of Indigenous Tourism has shown just how powerful our cultural experiences are to our community, economy, and to our hearts and minds.

Together we have delivered over 40 initiatives, including the $7 million Growing Indigenous Tourism Fund to develop and deliver new tourism experiences and jobs for Indigenous Queenslanders.

We have worked with over 200 Indigenous tourism operators to grow their offering and increase profitability, and supported 14 Indigenous festivals and events across Queensland.

To market Indigenous experiences, more than 20 operators have been filmed, and this content has been viewed more than 4 million times across broadcast and digital.

And we've worked with 450 industry and emerging Indigenous tourism leaders to build a strong, capable Indigenous workforce.

As we look ahead, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander tourism experiences will grow as an iconic part of Queensland's industry.
