Binna Burra Via Ferrata
A via ferrata originated in Europe centuries ago where simple protected paths, with ladders and basic protection aids, gave local communities access to the Alps.
With our support, this project will enable Binna Burra Lodge to market cliff-face climbing at its property next to the spectacular Lamington National Park, with panoramic views of the Gold Coast and Scenic Rim.
The via ferrata climbing path will be capable of handling up to 30 people at a time and complement existing outdoor tourism activities.
Both beginners and mountain climbing enthusiasts and will be able to enjoy the spectacular views of the Scenic Rim.
Forecast to support 7 construction jobs and 52 ongoing jobs once operational
Expected to attract an extra 54,000 visitors per year
Forecast to grow the local economy by $6.7 million annually
This will be Australia’s first commercial via ferrata and a 'game-changer' for adventure tourism in the Gold Coast Hinterland’s Scenic Rim. “Since our founding back in 1933, Binna Burra Lodge has always had plenty on offer to get the heart pumping and help people enjoy the great outdoors - from bushwalking, abseiling, flying fox, archery, camping and wild treks"
