Townsville Eco Resort

The $1.5 million Townsville Eco Resort project delivered 10 new glamping tents and 13 powered campsites for caravans.

The glamping tents are fitted with water saving technology devices, low heat transfer roof systems (white roofing), ultra-modern amenities, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, LED strip lighting inside and out to reduce energy consumption and glare and curtains that are both sheer for privacy and to support heat reduction.

The powered campsites are installed with gravel pads and LED soft lighting to reduce glare for wildlife and grassed areas, enhanced with a local environmental product for soil enhancement and nutrient management.

We supported the Townsville Eco Resort development with a $500,000 investment towards the construction of an ecotourism glamping village.

This project was a part of the $25 million Growing Tourism Infrastructure (GTI) Fund 2020/21 which is a key element of Queensland’s Economic Recovery Strategy: Unite and Recover for Queensland Jobs to help accelerate the State’s recovery from COVID-19.

Benefits

  • Forecast to support 17 construction jobs and 10 ongoing jobs once operational

  • Estimated to attract an additional 26,000 visitors per year

  • Estimated to boost the local economy by $2.4 million annually
