Anyone can have a great idea or come up with an innovative solution to a problem. The hard part when you’re in a region can be getting access to the help you need to turn your idea into a business and your business into a global success story.

Advance Queensland is helping Queenslanders to grow their business and build our innovation economy.

Logan has many local success stories that we support though programs such as Ignite Ideas and the Business Development Fund.

We have designed or funded many programs to support innovators across Queensland including:

  • Advancing Regional Innovation Program - gives each region up to $500,000 to develop region-wide innovation projects.
  • Regional Startup Hubs Support Program - a local skills-building program delivering education and networking events.
  • Startup Onramp Regional Queensland Program - shows people with a great idea how to become a startup founder.
  • Regional Angel Investors Support Program – helps investors to find innovators who need financial backing.

Case study: Online education goes global

Workplace training marketplace GO1 launched in 2015 as a part-time web development business and has since become a global leader in online learning and education. With over 500,000 different courses available on their education platform, they are working alongside some of the largest companies in the world and covering a wide range of industries and regions.

GO1 said funding received from the Queensland Government’s Ignite Ideas Fund and Business Development Fund was integral to going global and capturing international attention. They have since raised more than $30 million in funding led by Microsoft’s venture capital arm (M12) and SEEK. GO1 has grown to 100 staff, anticipates their team will grow by 50 more employees in Queensland alone, and now has offices overseas.

Tourism is crucial to Queensland’s economic growth and the success of the state’s tourism industry is a key focus of the Queensland Government.

We collaborate across industry and government to develop and implement policies and strategies aimed at growing the tourism industry and Logan is no exception.

Logan is part of the Greater Brisbane Region which is full of natural wonders and unique attractions that tourists love to visit.

We are helping the region to:

  • develop more tourism investment attractions
  • grow tourism and jobs with the Advancing Tourism 2016-20 Strategy
  • improve access to our tourism destinations through the Queensland Transport and Tourism Strategy
  • support major events to create jobs and boost the economy
  • grow tourism development projects.

Our support is helping to develop and boost tourism and innovation in the Logan region.

Case study: Innovative gaming technology bringing visitors to Logan

Live gaming is becoming increasingly popular in homes but also at gaming centres all around the state who want to attract visitors with a unique and fun experience.

Local innovators Battlefield Sports came up with a live gaming system SATRWear that is worn on a player’s forearm so they can have an entirely hands-free experience. They won the Most Innovative Company in Logan Business Awards 2019 and their technology is helping to bring visitors to the region who want an experience they won't forget. Their innovative technology has the potential to change live gaming around Queensland and create new attractions for local visitors, generate jobs and boost regional economies.
